In
1975, Ovidiu Balan won "The Theater and Music Association Award" in Bucharest, and
in 1979, he won "The Art Critics Association Award" for the masterful interpretation
he gave to Beethoven's 9th Symphony. In 1982, Maestro Balan won "The Cultural Merit
Award" in Bucharest for his impressive artistic activity, followed by "The Master
of Arts Award" in Kisinev, Republic of Moldavia, in 1994, and "The Journalists Award"
for the richest artistic activity in Italy for the year 2000.
Maestro
Balan returned to the USA in 1988, when he was invited to conduct 42 concerts with
the Romanian Symphony Orchestra from Constanta. This tour was organized by Columbia
Artists Management, and it consisted of concerts from New York to San Diego. In
2001, he was invited to bring the Bacau Symphony Orchestra to the USA. He conducted
different benefit concerts for orphans, organized by the "Altamura Center for the
Arts" in New York.
Mr.
Balan has a very rich artistic activity in Europe. He is annually invited to guest
conduct orchestras in Spain, Italy, Germany and Russia. He has also toured Netherlands,
Greece, Cuba, Bulgaria, Poland and Austria.
